Heart Search

At first glance, the living room in our home (usually) appears clean and welcoming. Life is happening though and were you to move my couch (please don't), you'd likely find all manner of box cars, stale popcorn and loose change. 

"That's your heart, Lynette." Words I resented hearing from my Creator... still I knew them to be true. 

Try as I might to pursue holiness, a push and a shove within my soul reveals an ugly I wasn't expecting. 

So I fuss and fret and finally cling to grace. Holding tightly to it, I realize peace and I am reminded that His peace is always worth more than my comfort or happiness. 

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at.

People look at the outward appearance,

but the Lord looks at the heart.” 

(1 Samuel 16:7 NIV)

Create in me a clean heart,
O God.
